The squiggle is my personal ideogram*.

It’s my reminder the best is yet to come!

*I like the word, Ideogram:

“a written character symbolizing the idea of a thing without indicating the sounds used to say it.”

A compass orients a point as it moves across a map. This squiggle orients me as life moves and calls me to be aware of:

Where I’m from. Where I am. What I have. Where I go.

Unlike a compass, these lines are connected, tied together. Each direction will affect the others.

There are paradoxes in the squiggle. It is clear, directing to a purposeful and intentional life. Yet, I don’t rely on it to tell me what is right or wrong (I have another source for that). At the same time, the squiggle is messy. Life is messy. In the tension, I have one encouragement: Life is not over. This life is not the best it is going to get. No.

The squiggle reminds me that the best is yet to come!

< LOOK BACK.

Am I aware of those walking behind? Am I Encouraging them to take their place? Pointing back reminds me to be present in the moments and lives I am privileged to invest in.

V PULL DOWN.

Am I willing to receive? Willing to be Equipped with skills, talents and passions? I need to be equipped with “outside myself insight.” I need a download of new information in order to go, press, decide, or create.

^ REACH UP.

Am I reaching up to Engage a legacy? Pointing up to my higher calling? I am more than what I see today. There is more to aspire to- continued growth is possible when I seek it.

> WALK.

Am I excited to Explore this life? Pointing forward leads me fearlessly, wisely, and intentionally to face challenges as I move into opportunities.
